Academy Awards 2022

It’s always exciting to see our favourite screenwriters, actors, and directors on the red carpet for the Academy Awards every year. Thousands of people from all over the world come to watch the ceremony. It’s a tradition for movie fans to watch the Oscars with each other and cheer on their favourite movies together. Super Bowl of Celebrity, the Stanley Cup of Stardom, and the Championship of Cinephilia are some of the names for this event On March 27, 2022, it will happen (Bajer, 2022)

This year, there are a lot of good movies and actors competing, so it’s going to be hard to choose. But even those who deserve to win don’t always win. The Academy uses a preferential voting system that has been criticised for giving unfair results. So instead, we’ll pick who should win and who we think will win. This is what we’re looking at: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Original Screenplay. There aren’t any small awards. This is what we’re looking at: This is all we have to say about our Oscar picks for 2022, so here they are!

Best Picture

This is a difficult category, as it includes not just popular films, but also ones with artistic quality. This year, CODA appears to be the underdog. As a fan favourite that has quickly amassed a slew of smaller accolades in the run-up to the Oscars, many people want to see it win. However, with 12 nominations, The Power of the Dog is the Academy’s strongest candidate. And a picture without directorial or editing nominations, such as CODA, has not won since 1932. However, competition is fierce. Licorice Pizza is a mixture of joy and strain. Dune is a film that triumphed against a history of setbacks. And Drive My Car will likely win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Who Should Win: CODA

Who Will Win: The Power of the Dog

Best Director

Paul Thomas Anderson has been nominated for six Academy Awards but has never won one. He is a well-known auteur who continuously produces amusing, diverse, and high-quality films that astound reviewers worldwide. However, Jane Campion is deserving of this honour. After being denied in 1994 for her film The Piano, she became the first woman to ever receive two Best Director nominations this year. And if she wins, she will become the first woman to win the prize twice in a straight, following Chloe Zhao’s win for Nomadland in 2015. However, the category is once again brimming with powerful heavyweights. Steven Spielberg reimagined West Side Story brilliantly, and Kenneth Branagh portrayed a vital storey in Belfast.

Who Should Win: Paul Thomas Anderson

Who Will Win: Jane Campion

Best Actor

Will Smith is a seasoned actor whose career peaked in the early 2000s. While many of us fondly recall him from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, he established himself as more than a prime-time television performer throughout his career. He was nominated for this prize twice previously, in 2002 for Ali and again in 2007 for The Pursuit of Happiness, but was unsuccessful both times. He was in a unique position in King Richard as the father of Venus and Serena Williams, bringing his experience with fame and family to light on this complex tale. (Bajer, 2022)

Who Should Win: Will Smith

Who Will Win: Will Smith

Best Actress

A lot of the time, when someone wins Best Actor or Actress, they have the benefit of their picture being nominated for Best Picture. This year, none of those nominated for Best Actress are in those films, making this category hard to analyse statistically.
And in instances like these, it’s best to go with your instinct. But the talent in the nominations is incredible. Kristen Stewart had a surprising role as Princess Di. Nicole Kidman plays Lucille Ball to a tremendous depth of character in the film Being the Ricardos.
And Penélope Cruz has typically been at her finest while collaborating with Pedro Almodovar. However, Jessica Chastain received the Screen Actors Guild award for female performer in a leading role for her performance in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and this may be a favourable indicator for her winning the Oscar.(Bajer, 2022)

Who Should Win: Penélope Cruz

Who Will Win: Jessica Chastain

Best Original Screenplay

This is a very difficult decision. King Richard, Belfast, and The Worst Person in the World are also included in this category. And, Academy aside, it’s exceedingly impossible to choose a favourite. Licorice Pizza is a delightful, upbeat picture written with the deftness of a seasoned screenwriter. However, Don’t Look Up virtually completely redefines the catastrophe film genre. With its political satire and urgent environmental message, the film exudes an overwhelming sense of urgency, which is ideal for our contemporary atmosphere. Apart from the fact that it is a quintessential “original script,” it is a film that everyone should see.

Who Should Win: Licorice Pizza

Who Will Win: Don’t Look Up
